YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – It’s training time for some special police officers in the Valley.

K-9 units from several departments gathered at a field Tuesday morning off of Gibson Street in Youngstown for some continued education.

The dogs were training in scent tracking.

Officers put several items in the field that were covered in various odors for the dogs to find.

Officers said the dogs never use their eyes when they are tracking, so they aren’t distracted by what’s going on around them.
