BEREA, Ohio (AP) – Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon displayed a willingness to change when he met with team officials after being reinstated from a long suspension by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
Gordon is back on a conditional basis after being suspended last season for multiple drug violations. Gordon is suspended for the first four games this season, but he’s being permitted to interact with the team during the ban – his fourth suspension in four seasons.
Vice president of football operations Sashi Brown said the team wouldn’t have welcomed back Gordon if the 25-year-old hadn’t showed an understanding of his actions and need for accountability. Brown said Gordon “wants to make the most of this opportunity and he knows his situation. So we’re going to get around him, give him that opportunity.”
First-year Browns coach Hue Jackson said Gordon’s “slate’s clean with me.”
Gordon will miss two weeks of training camp with a strained quadriceps.
