YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A man accused of beating a female relative with a hammer was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Timothy Leshon Smith pleaded guilty to felony aggravated burglary and kidnapping charges.

Police said Smith forced his way into the woman’s home on the city’s east side in December 2015. She was taken to the hospital with severe injuries after the reported assault.

Smith was arrested at a bus station two days later.
