NILES, Ohio (WKBN) – Anthony Cafaro, Jr., mall developer and owner of the Eastwood Mall complex, stopped a thief in his tracks earlier this week.
According to the Tribune Chronicle, a police report states that Matthew Fenstermaker, 28, of Cortland, grabbed a pair of shoes Wednesday from the Payless shoe store and took off running through the mall. Cafaro, who was near the food court showing prospective tenants around, saw the commotion and stepped in front of Fenstermaker and stopped him.
Cafaro got knocked to the ground but was able to hold the suspect until security guards got there.
Fenstermaker did not enter a plea Thursday in Niles Municipal Court to a charge of robbery, a third-degree felony, according to court records. He is in the Trumbull County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 bond and scheduled to appear Monday for a preliminary hearing.
