YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The U.S. Marshals of the Northern District of Ohio had an award ceremony Friday at Youngstown State University to honor its officers.
The Youngstown Division took home the 2015 Susan Graves Task Force Division of the Year Award. The division made arrests for crimes such as abuse of a corpse, homicide and felonious assault.
More recently, U.S. Marshals played a major role in the arrest of Luis Cruz Ramos, a local rape suspect who ran from police.
U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said the work that officers do is important.
“You know, on that day, it was good guys: 1, bad guys: 0. It’s very important work they do every day. I’m very proud of them, and today it’s their day,” he said. “We’re here to honor them.”
Former Cleveland Browns Quarterback Bernie Kosar and YSU President Jim Tressel were among the speakers at the ceremony.
