BEREA, Ohio (AP) – Robert Griffin III joked that he already stands apart in Cleveland’s quarterback competition.

RG3 cracked about his time in the 40-yard dash: “There’s only one of us that runs 4.3.”

Griffin is expected to win the Browns’ starting job as he embarks on a new chapter of his career, which was promising before it crashed in Washington. The Browns, who have had 24 starting quarterbacks since 1999, are giving Griffin a new start.

Griffin will compete with veterans Josh McCown, Austin Davis and rookie Cody Kessler for the top gig. Browns coach Hue Jackson said Thursday that he intends to name his starter for this season before the Aug. 12 exhibition opener against Green Bay.
