POLAND VILLAGE, Ohio (WKBN) – A Struthers woman was charged with trying to obtain a fraudulent prescription from the Walgreen’s in Poland.
Heather Peterson was jailed Wednesday on an illegal processing of drug documents charge.
Police said a prescription was called in for Xanax tablets for Peterson, allegedly from a doctor in Virginia on Friday. They said a staff member at Walgreen’s said the script was not eligible to be filled, so she called the doctor’s office, which reported that the script was fraudulent and that the doctor had refused to fill it. The office reported that a scheduled narcotics prescription would not be filled across state lines and that there was no record of a refill for Peterson.
Peterson returned to Walgreen’s to pick up the script on Wednesday. She said the doctor’s office must have made a mistake.
She was arrested and taken to Mahoning County Jail.
She pleaded not guilty in Struthers Municipal Court on Friday and was released on bond. A preliminary hearing was set for 12:30 p.m. September 20.
