SHARON, Pa. (WKBN) – The Bavarian Fun Fest returned to downtown Sharon, and a new tradition started Thursday night in memory of the founder of the event.

More than 500 people turned out for the inaugural Meszaros Family Charitable Foundation Fund Fest on the grounds of Quaker Steak and Lube.

It’s in honor of Gary Meszaros, one of the founders of the Lube, who died last August.

Money raised will go back to the Shenango Valley.

“Down the road, we would love to build a river walk since my father always focused on the Shenango Valley River and what he could do to make it more fun,” Rachel Meszaros said. “Whether it was the Small Ships Revue and, most recently, bringing Waterfire to the Sharon area and the Shenango Valley.”

Travel America, who just recently took over Quaker Steak and Lube, gave a big financial boost to the foundation with a $10,000 check.
