Boardman man receives probation in fatal drunk-driving crash

Ryan Ferrebee was sentenced to two years of reporting probation

Ryan Ferrebee appeared in court Wednesday morning on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and OVI.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A man accused of running over another man as he crossed the street near Mill Creek Park has been sentenced to two years of reporting probation.

Ryan Ferrebee took a plea deal in June, pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of vehicular homicide and OVI. He was sentenced Tuesday in Mahoning County Judge Maureen Sweeney’s courtroom.

Police say Ferrebee was drunk when he hit Jorge Guartan in April of 2015 on Glenwood Avenue. Guartan died from his injuries.

Ferrebee was offered a plea deal last month but refused, saying he wanted a trial by a judge without a jury. He later changed that decision.
