YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Five Youngstown men are facing various charges in relation to a reported assault of a man in June.
The alleged victim called police to report that two men who had assaulted him earlier in the week, Wayne Martin and Terrell Martin, had followed him through Youngstown and fired shots at him while he was driving near Garfield Street and Overland Avenue.
Mahoning County Assistant Prosecutor Michael Yacovone said the men are now facing charges in relation to that earlier assault, along with three other men. He said they are accused of “pistol whipping” the victim and holding him against his will by gunpoint.
Also charged are 27-year-old Derail Whitted, 31-year-old Saeed Garner and 30-year-old Anthony Anderson. The indictment indicates that Wayne Martin, Whitted and Anderson are violent repeat offenders.
Together, they face 15 counts of aggravated robbery, felonious assault, kidnapping, retaliation, having weapons under disability, discharging a firearm near prohibited premises and improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle.
Yacovone said Terrell Martin is charged with the actual shooting, while Whitted and Anderson held the man by gunpoint during the assault.
