Hope Over Heroin: 3-day outreach in Vienna targets addiction

Hope over Heroin is a three-day event in Vienna, Ohio to battle drug addiction.

VIENNA, Ohio (WKBN) – An addiction event starts Thursday in Vienna, but the reach of the program stretches across the Mahoning Valley.

It’s called Hope Over Heroin Mahoning Valley – a three-day outreach event that includes members from churches, addiction recovery centers and other support services offering help to those suffering from addiction. The mission is to connect people in need with practical, redemptive ministries and services, providing a bridge of hope for the victim and their families.

The event begins Thursday at 6 p.m. at One Litco Drive in Vienna.

There is no parking on site. Off-site parking is available at Pleasant Valley Church, 2055 Pleasant Valley Road, Niles – approximately one mile from the venue. Shuttles will run every half hour before the start of each event.

Shuttles are also being made available from several metro areas including: Sharon, Pa., Warren and Youngstown. Anyone in need of transportation can call (330) 759-4570.

Thursday, August 11th
6 p.m. – 9 p.m.: Hope Over Heroin: Leading the Fight!

“Leading the Fight!” Mahoning Valley leaders will gather, along with those in need of services, to learn how they can serve as catalysts in their respective arenas of influence and truly “Lead the Fight” for the Mahoning Valley. Both educational and motivational, the evening will be filled with exceptional opportunities to learn how, through effective collaboration, we can have a tremendous impact on beating this epidemic.

There will be refreshments, live music, speakers from both Hope Over Heroin, as well as Sports World Ministries. In addition, there will be what is being called “The City of Resources,” which is a virtual “city” filled of resource agencies, where those needing help can turn for support in transforming their lives.*

Friday, August 12th
6 p.m. – 9 p.m.: Youth Alive Night!

The second evening of the event, has been designated “Youth Alive Night!” There will be food, music, activities, and messaging specifically targeted for the next generation of The Mahoning Valley. Speakers from both Hope Over Heroin, as well as Sports World Ministries, will address the Youth and “meet them where they are at” by presenting them with a relevant and impactful presentation.

Teachers, coaches, youth organization leaders, parents and family members are encouraged to attend.

Saturday, August 13th
10 a.m. – 2 p.m.: Family Day

Saturday has been designated as “Family Day!” It has been said that the Mahoning Valley is indeed “one big family,” and for this reason we have designated this day to celebrate! This day will also include food, music, and speakers from both “Hope Over Heroin, as well as Sports World Ministries.”

In addition, it will also include a special area for children featuring bounce houses, carnival games, face painting, a craft station, and much more! At noon, a memorial walk will also take place where the family, friends and loved ones of those who have been lost, can honor their memory.
