Police search Newton Falls apartment for meth-making materials

A 37-year-old man was charged after drug-making chemicals were found in his apartment

NEWTON FALLS, Ohio (WKBN) – A Newton Falls man was arrested after police said items used to make the drug methamphetamine were discovered at the Newton Village Apartments.

Mark Cowger, 37, is charged possession of chemicals used to manufacture illegal drugs. He is being held in Trumbull County Jail.

The Trumbull-Ashtabula Group (TAG) headed the investigation into suspicious activity at the apartment. TAG said there were surveillance photos showing Cowger purchasing items commonly used to make the drug methamphetamine. Those photos showed Cowger with bandages on his arms, believed to be from a burn sustained by making the drug, according to police.

Police said hazardous materials were removed from the apartment. Trumbull County Hazmat was called in to prevent chemical exposure due to rain.
