Over 2,000 participants went to the 9th annual Buddy Walk Saturday, hosted at the Shops at Boardman Park.

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – Over 2,000 participants went to the 9th annual Buddy Walk Saturday, hosted at the Shops at Boardman Park.

The one mile stroll was sponsored by over 25 local businesses, all in an effort to bring awareness to the Valley. The walk also helps to educate and bring resources to families affected by Down syndrome.

Lindsey Morris, the event coordinator, said the day was all about celebrating individuals.

“It’s really about coming together and spending the day with your loved one with Down syndrome, and celebrating all that they have the ability to do,” she said.

The Buddy Walk started in 1995 and has grown to raise nearly $14 million each year.
