YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Black Lives Matter rally occurred Saturday at 12:30 p.m. starting at the Oakhill Renaissance Building in Youngstown.
The march ended at the Federal Courthouse, lasting until 2 p.m.
Youngstown police helped direct traffic from the demonstrators.
Event organizers said the march was all about promoting unity.
“Whatever we have to do to bring the community together is what we’re going to do, because we love this place, we are this place. So who else better to revitalize our place but us? So that’s what we’re doing, one step at a time,” said Dionne Dowdy, executive director of Uniting Returning Citizens.
Event organizers also said they were pleased with the turnout at the event.
