YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The walls of the Mahoning County Juvenile Court are bare and in need of some personalization.

The court is teaming up with the Soap Gallery in downtown Youngstown for the “Capture the Spirit of the Valley” photo contest.

Both professional and amateur photographers are encouraged to capture sites they think best represent the Mahoning Valley, and submit them digitally as black and white photos.

“We want people to feel a little bit more comfortable when they come down here. No matter where they come from, whether it be Poland, Canfield, Youngstown, Boardman, we want them to see a little bit of their community in the court,” said Court Administrator Anthony D’Apolito.

There is a $5 entry fee to submit up to three photos.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three photos in each of the three categories: Professional, Amateur and Under 18. Prizes will also be given to a “People’s Choice” winner and six honorable mentions.

Photographers can submit their work digitally through the Soap Gallery’s website. Visit the photo contest’s Facebook page for more information.
