WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – After reports of an attempted robbery and shots fired, Warren police arrested a woman on charges of firing a gun and possessing marijuana.
Officers responded to Gas Land on Parkman Road around 11 p.m. Tuesday. Witnesses said they saw a woman shooting at a man running away from the store.
When police arrived, they found the woman, 29-year-old Shannon Foster, and a gun inside the store.
A witness told officers that the man tried to steal some t-shirts and the store owner confronted him. The man then yanked the owner’s gold chain from his neck and started running away, according to the police report.
Another witness said Foster started shooting at the man as he was running away, but Foster and the store owner claimed that no shots were fired and police could not find any shell casings in the area.
The man gave the gold chain back to the owner, who did not want to press charges.
The owner said that Foster, a clerk at the store, is his girlfriend. He said they keep the gun in the store for protection, and Foster said she had a concealed carry permit in her car.
When officers asked to see the permit, Foster and the owner were uncomfortable with the idea of officers searching the car, according to the police report.
Police used a K9 to search the car, and discovered some marijuana in Foster’s purse along with the CCW permit.
Foster is charged with possession of marijuana and discharging a firearm in city limits. Police conducted a gun shot residue test to determine if Foster fired the gun, and said the results will come at a later date.
