Cecil R. Fluharty, Niles, Ohio - obit

NILES, Ohio – Cecil R. Fluharty, age 76, of Niles, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2016 with his family at his side.

Cecil was born November 2, 1939 in Lumberport, West Virginia to the late Homer and Beulah (Postlethwait) Fluharty.

He attended Warren Consolidated High School in Tiltonsville, Ohio.

He married his childhood sweetheart, Betty Cecconi on March 14, 1959.

Cecil was employed by Republic Steel, later LTV Steel, as an electrician supervisor at the 56” Mill in Warren.

He enjoyed coaching baseball for his sons at Burbank park and later was the #1 fan as gummy worm Grandpa for his granddaughter, Karen’s team in Howland. He was a man of many talents.

Cecil was a member of the Warren Masonic Temple Old Erie Lodge #3. He especially enjoyed working on cars and tinkering in his garage.

Cecil was a heart transplant recipient in 2001 and was deeply grateful to the family of Angelique for the generous gift of 15 more years of life.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty; his sons, David (Christina) Fluharty, and Daniel (Christine) Fluharty; five grandchildren, Kristina (Scott), Karen (Frank), Andrew, Ryan, and Danielle; four great-grandchildren, Rylee, Teagan, Cecilia, and Olivia; and step-grandson Martise. He is also survived by his siblings, Joyce (Jim Pierce) Fluharty and Caney (Cathy) Fluharty; brother-in-law Richard (Rosemary) Cecconi, and special sister-in-law Vivian Fluharty; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Cecil was preceded in death by his brothers, Howard and Wayne.

Friends may call Friday 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Lane Funeral Home, Roberts-Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Dr. in Warren; where the funeral service will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Niles Cemetery.
