BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – Animal Charity Humane Society is asking for the community’s help after seizing 34 dogs, two cats, a snake, rats and birds from a suspected hoarding situation.
The animals came from a home on Weston Avenue in Youngstown on Wednesday night. Neighbors complained that the house smelled like ammonia and animals were running loose.
The snake, rats and birds went to family members, but Animal Charity is left to care for the dogs and cats.
Animal Charity Board President Mary Louk said just because the animals look like they are in good condition, it doesn’t mean it wasn’t abuse.
“Hoarders don’t abuse animals in the way we always think, by starving them or things like that, but still, having… 34 dogs in a home is not sanitary,” she said.
Animal Charity is asking for financial donations, as well as donations of dry food for the animals’ care.
The shelter is located at 4140 Market St. in Boardman and can be reached at 330-788-1064.
