Crews were called out after a semi truck became tangled in power lines

Crews have been sent out to clean up live wires that are down on the road near Genesee Avenue NE and Tiffany Road


HOWLAND, Ohio (WKBN) – Crews are cleaning up live wires that are down in a residential area on Genesee Avenue NE.

The Howland Fire Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol and Ohio Edison were called out just before 1 p.m. Thursday after a semi truck became tangled in the wires. The telephone pole has also been pulled down.

The driver was uninjured. Investigators are measuring the height of the truck before determining who is at fault.

Crews are working to clean up the area.

According to First Energy’s website, between 101 and 500 people were without power Thursday afternoon, but it is unknown if the outages are related.

Power had been restored Thursday night.
