Man taken to hospital after rollover crash in Austintown

Witnesses say a man was thrown from a Jeep when it rolled over

Crews were called out to clean up a rollover crash in Austintown Thursday afternoon.

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Crews were called out to clean up a rollover crash in Austintown Thursday afternoon.

The accident occurred near Mahoning Avenue and Wickliffe Circle.

Ohio State Highway Patrol said 22-year-old Joseph Puntel, of Youngstown, was driving westbound on Mahoning Avenue when he went off the right side of the road and struck a guideline and support pole from a traffic light. The Jeep he was driving then flipped over, and witnesses said he was thrown from the vehicle.

Highway Patrol said Puntel had only minor injuries. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.

Puntel was cited for failure to control and no seat belt.

The cause of the crash is unknown.
