NILES, Ohio (WKBN) – Four players were ejected from Thursday’s high school football game between Girard and Niles for an altercation that occurred on the field during the first quarter.

Monday, All-American Conference Commissioner Rick King released this statement regarding the situation:

This past weekend, many football games were played involving AAC teams. One game, Niles vs. Girard, has gathered much media attention, partially due to the fact that it was broadcast live on TV and also due to the fact that an incident occurred during the course of the game.

As members of the AAC and of the OHSAA, all teams strive to perform at their highest athletic level possible and simultaneously to display a high level of sportsmanship. When incidents occur that do not meet the expectations of our conference schools and of the OHSAA itself, there will be appropriate consequences. Athletes ejected will be subjected to the bylaws of the OHSAA while other athletes that did not display the level of sportsmanship our conference requires will be subject to the disciplinary code of their school.

The AAC is committed to our student-athletes, our schools and our fans. As a conference, we will do all that we can to prevent future incidents such as the one that occurred last week from happening in the future.”
