Bicyclist seriously injured in Mercer County accident

Police said a 62-year-old West Middlesex woman collided with another bicyclist on Bedford Road

A bicyclist from West Middlesex was seriously injured after colliding with another bicycle in Shenango Township.

SHENANGO TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – A bicyclist from West Middlesex is in critical condition after colliding with another bicycle in Mercer County.

Shenango Township Police Chief Jason Newton said 62-year-old Mary Miniea was riding down a hill near 251 Bedford Road when she collided with another bicyclist, 55-year-old Bobbie Frontino, who was also riding in the area. Police said Miniea then lost control of her bike and fell near the intersection of Fetsko Road.

The accident happened around 9 a.m. Monday.

Miniea was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. She was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital with what police called serious injuries. The other bicyclist, who wasn’t wearing a helmet either, was not injured.
