Series Note: After 24-years (1988-2011), LaBrae and JFK finally met each other in August of 2012. The Vikings and the Eagles met in week two each year from 1971 to 1977. Then, in week three from 1978 to 1986. JFK has won 7 of the last 8 meetings. The Eagles own an 18-4 advantage in the series.

Last Meeting: In last year’s contest, JFK’s Bobby Jefferson connected with Jacob Coates on a 62-yard touchdown pass with just 61 seconds remaining to propel the Eagles to a 22-17 win over the homestanding Vikings. Junior Evan Boyd gained nearly 100-yards (95) on the ground on 17 totes for the Eagles.

Game Notes: Within the last 20 years (1996-2015), LaBrae has only had 7 winning seasons. Last year, the team advanced to the Regional Semifinals and finished with a 9-3 mark. That record marked just the second time during that time span that the Vikings have lost three or less games in a single season (2015: 9-3; 2008: 9-2).

LaBrae jumped out to a 21-0 lead in their week one encounter with Conneaut. The Vikings went onto win 35-17. The offense was led by a run game which accumulated 296 yards. Tariq Drake took 4 handoffs and totaled 134 yards while scoring from 59 yards and 66 yards on the ground. Drake also returned a punt 69 yards into the Spartans endzone. The defense held Conneaut to 3.8 yards per play (61 plays for 233 total yards).

JFK had lost 7 of their previous 9 road contests before last year’s 5-0 mark away from the friendly confines of Mollenkopf Stadium. When the Eagles score 20-points or more, they’ve won 13 in a row.

Kennedy played only two quarters in week one (due to weather conditions) but that was enough to post a 55-0 win over Keystone. The Eagle defense held the Panthers to just 59 total yards of offense including negative 28 rushing yards on 20 carries. Jacob Coates returned two punt returns for touchdowns (45 yards and 34 yards). Ross Nocera also had a pair of short touchdown runs in the victory.
