LORDSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A husband and wife are now facing misdemeanor criminal charges after investigators removed more than 50 animals from a Lordstown home.
Paul and Judith Kellar are charged with child endangerment and animal cruelty in the suspected animal hoarding case. Along with 11 dogs, more than 30 cats and other small animals, police said the couple has a 13-year-old girl who lives in the home.
Officers were called to the home after a person reported smelling ammonia from outside. Although the animals appeared to be cared for, police said it was hard to breathe in the home due to the deplorable conditions, with cat boxes and cages overflowing with feces.
Paul and Judith Kellar are scheduled to appear in Newton Falls Municipal Court at 9 a.m. Thursday.
