Coroner: Driver suffered heart attack before striking tree in Warren

The 73-year-old was found dead at the scene near the intersection of Elm Road and Clermont Avenue

Elm Road in Warren is closed while crews clear up the scene of an accident.

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – An elderly Warren man died of a heart attack before crashing his vehicle into a tree Tuesday morning, according to the Trumbull County Coroner’s Office.

Anthony Cipolla, 73, was found dead at the scene near the intersection of Elm Road and Clermont Avenue.

According to an accident report, Cipolla failed to negotiate a curve and traveled off the right side of the road, crashing into a tree in front of Warren Bible Methodist Church. A witness told police Cipolla’s car was traveling at high speed.

According to Trumbull County Dispatch, the accident occurred around 9:30 a.m., and Cipolla was thrown from the vehicle.

Elm Road was temporarily closed following the crash.

Warren Police are still investigating.
