A fire caused significant damage to a Boardman home.

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – A man mowing his yard in Boardman’s Applewood Acres Tuesday afternoon had to be alerted that his house was on fire.

The fire destroyed a sun room in the back of the house at the corner of Glenridge Road and Edenridge Drive.

While no one was hurt, Fire Chief Mark Pitzer says the damage was extensive.

“It was pretty significant. The rear portion of the garage was pretty well destroyed. The fire then extended up into the second floor into the attic space of the home itself.”

Firefighters are investigating and do not yet know the cause of the fire.
