Paycheck scam changes YSU employees’ direct deposit information

Youngstown State employees should call the payroll department to ensure their check was properly deposited

Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Some Youngstown State employees have fallen victim to a paycheck scam, according to an email from the university.

The email, sent Tuesday night, states that some YSU paychecks were redirected into other accounts besides those of the employees.

A phishing email was sent to employees last week, asking for their YSU login information.

At least 35 employees submitted the information, thinking it was from the YSU Office of Human Resources, and their direct deposit information was changed. The university said those individuals will be contacted directly.

YSU employees should call the payroll department at 330-941-1470 on Wednesday to ensure their check was properly deposited.
