Powell shines in Hubbard’s opener

The Eagles' sophomore finished with a game-high 28 kills in a 3-2 win Tuesday.

Hubbard, OH (WKBN) – Sophomore Adria Powell registered 28 kills, and the Hubbard volleyball team defeated Austintown Fitch in five games Tuesday at Hubbard High School.

The Eagles fell in the first match, 26-24, but came back to win the next two, 25-19 and 25-14. Hubbard kept the game alive with a 25-23 win in Game 4, but the Eagles finished things off with a 15-9 in the fifth set.

Powell’s 28 kills were just six shy of the school record. Addy Jarvis also had 20 kills, along with 18 digs. Emily Krinos finished with 61 assists.

The Falcons were led by Lainie Simons, with 24 digs and four kills, while Khala Cameron added seven blocks, five kills, and three aces.

Hubbard improves to 1-0 on the season, while Fitch falls to 1-2 overall.
