CANFIELD, Ohio – Anne Marie Sofranko, 93 of Canfield passed away Wednesday evening, August 31, at Hospice House of Poland.
Anne was born January 28, 1923 in Niles, a daughter of the late Michael and Anna Magli Reno.
She graduated from Mineral Ridge High School in 1941 and had worked at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Nursing for one year. During World War II she worked for Republic Steel and Stanley Works and later worked for Packard Electric where she made harnesses.
Anne was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church where she served on the altar and rosary society. She also attended St. Paul’s Monastery.
Anne enjoyed gardening and baking and especially enjoyed the trips with her sister-in-law and two friends, “the Golden Girls” to the casinos.
Her first husband, Donald Dunstan whom she married in 1944, died in 1946. Her husband, George Sofranko whom she married June 7, 1947, died January 15, 1994.
Anne leaves a son, Donald (Darlene) Dunstan of Georgetown, Kentucky; a daughter, Patricia Sofranko of Canfield; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and her husbands, Anne was preceded in death by a son, Atty. George B. Sofranko; three sisters, Julia Johnson, Mary Kosa and and an infant sister; four brothers, Michael Reno, Frank Reno, John Reno, Mike “Sonny” Reno and an infant brother.
Friends may call on Tuesday, September 6 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church at 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.
