GIRARD, Ohio (WKBN) – An 18-year-old woman is facing OVI charges after police say she crashed into a house in Girard.

Officers were called at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday to a house on Marie Drive where they found Noelle Thomas sitting on the front porch and apologizing for hitting the house.

tire-tracksPolice say she was attempting to turn into the driveway and went up over the lawn and hit the house.

Homeowner Morgan Cretella said her family does not know Thomas and that maybe she was attempting to turn around on the dead-end road.

Cretella said her family was awakened by the crash and an alarm that was set off in the garage. She said the corner of the garage and two interior walls sustained damage.

Officers said Thomas smelled of alcohol and failed a field sobriety test. She was arrested at the scene and taken to the police station where she refused a urine drug test, according to a police report.

Police said while conducting inventory of the vehicle involved in the crash, an open bottle of Ole Smoky Tennessee Moonshine was found.

Thomas was charged with OVI, failure to control, driving on a temporary permit and open container.

No injuries were reported.
