BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Boardman Spartans couldn’t keep the positive momentum going, falling to the Jackson Polar Bears 21-14 Friday night at Spartan Stadium.

Jackson’s Dillon Dingler hooked up with Joe Childers on a 65 yard touchdown pass on the opening play of the game to give the Polar Bears a 6-0 lead.

That lead held for almost two full quarters until Koby Adu-Poku put Boardman ahead with a three yard touchdown.  An extra point capped the 13 play, 73 yard scoring drive and the Spartans took a 7-6 lead into halftime.

With 8:27 remaining in the third quarter, Jaret Pallotta connected with Dingler on a 14 yard touchdown pass to take advantage of a Boardman turnover and give the Polar Bears a 14-7 lead.

Things started looking up for Boardman when the defense forced a turnover on downs inside their own red zone – but that hope was short-lived as Jackson’s Trey Mihok picked off an errant Spartan pass and returned it to the house on the ensuing possession to give Jackson a 21-7 lead.

Mike O’Horo connected with Gaven Strines in the closing minutes to close the gap to 21-14. But the ensuing onside kick attempt proved unsuccessful for the Spartans and the Polar Bears were able to kneel away the final moments of the game.

Boardman (2-1) will host Steubenville in week four.
