Garfield’s Fall throws for 5 TDs; drops Champion to 2-1

Champion will look to right the ship when they welcome Girard next week.

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Garfield jumped out to a 43-6 second quarter lead and would eventually post a 50-28 victory over Champion. Dalton Fall threw for 278 yards (19-32) which included 5 touchdowns.

The G-Men’s receiving corps caught 6 touchdowns total (one more from Kyle Borrelli). Tommy Bissler led all receivers with 6 catches and 91 yards (2 TDs). Anthony DeNigris caught a pair of scores (4 receptions, 62 yards) while also running for a touchdown as well. Seth Morgan also had 5 receptions for 86 yards.

Garfield’s defense held Champion to 208 yards of total offense – 50 rushing yards – while forcing two turnovers.

The Golden Flashes, who were playing in their first home game of the season, scored two touchdowns in the final frame to close the gap to 50-28. Noah Bayus scored the final touchdown of the game on a 69-yard punt return for a score. Bayus has caught at least 5 passes in each game of the season. He caught 5 balls for 90 yards tonight. Champion’s quarterback Brandon Allen completed 9 of 17 passes for 158 yards.
