NEWTON FALLS, Ohio (WKBN) – Newton Falls outscored Mineral Ridge, 15-7, in the second half to post a 24-21 win. The Tigers – who gained 330 yards rushing – are now 2-1.
Newton Falls has accumulated 695 rushing yards over the last two weeks. Bill Wright led all Tiger ball carriers with 153 yards on 22 attempts. Newton Falls’ quarterback Braden Bungard scored twice and accumulated 48 yards on the ground.
Tiger freshman Jordan Edmondson opened the game with a 60-yard touchdown on a kickoff return.
The Rams were led by Jarred Miller, who threw for a season-high 50 yards and ran for another 91. DeCosta Baptiste picked up where he left off last week with a strong performance which saw him take back a fumble for a score and run for another one in the second half. Baptiste has gained 98 yards on 17 carries over the last two weeks. Michael McLean had 84 yards from scrimmage (34 rushing, 50 receiving).
