HOWLAND TOWNSHIP, Ohio – Virginia “Wanda” Ward, 92, of Howland, passed away on September 9, 2016 peacefully surrounded by her loved ones, after a short illness.
Wanda was born on July 13, 1924 in Rossiter, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Vincent and Antonia (Slimeck) Kania.
She worked at Cox Lithograph Printing as a book binder for over 20 years.
Wanda was always on the move, she loved traveling, reading, dancing, listening to music, playing cards, taking trips to the casino, and sitting around campfires. Her most precious memories were spent with her family and friends, whom she loved and adored.
She is survived by her sons; Patrick (Linda) Ward, of Virginia, Timothy (Judy) Ward, of Cortland, and Kevin (Kim) Ward of Kinsman; son-in-law Les Sankey of Michigan; Eight grandchildren, Chris(Amy) Ward of Virginia, Heather Sankey and Nicole (Michael) Rese of Warren, Katie (Matt) Kear of Colorado, Becky (Joe) Bimler of Columbus, Rebecca Burns of Cortland, Kurt Ward of Kinsman, and Matthew (Bethany) Ward of Warren; and her younger sister Josephine Zuber of Michigan. Great grandchildren; Rachel and Bill Burns, Arielle and Rihanna Ward, Drew, Sammie and Lizzie Bimles, Lukas and Evelyn Kear, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Wanda is preceded in death by her husband, the late Donal Ward. They married in January 1946, Donald died in 1980. She is also preceded in death by a daughter, Gail Sankey, and her brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Robert-Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Dr. Warren, with Rev. Russel Zampino celebrating Wanda’s life.
Family and friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Interment will take place at All Souls Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Wanda’s name to The National Shrine of St. Jude, 205 W. Monroe St. Chicago, Illinois 60606.
