AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Niles man is facing drug and promoting prostitution charges after a traffic stop in Austintown on Tuesday.

An officer pulled over 44-year-old Troy Tursack for what he called a “view obstruction violation,” as Tursack had hanging dice on his rear view mirror. The officer previously spotted a woman get into Tursack’s car from behind Plaza 76.

Police said an opened bottle of vodka was found on the floor behind the driver’s seat. The woman in the car, 32-year-old Rhonda Cummings, had a warrant for her arrest for a theft charge in Trumbull County.

Cummings told police she was waiting for a family friend named “John” behind Plaza 76, but police said she could not remember his last name or provide any other details.

Tursack allowed the officer to search his vehicle, and drug paraphernalia, straws containing suspected drug residue and pills were found, according to a police report.

Tursack was arrested and charged with possessing drug abuse instruments and paraphernalia. During the interview with police, Tursack told officers that he brought Cummings to Plaza 76 so she could meet with a truck driver for sex, according to the report.

He was additionally charged with promoting prostitution and taken to Mahoning County Jail.

Tursack appeared in court Wednesday on the charges and entered no plea. Bond was set at $5,000, and a preliminary hearing was set for 10 a.m. October 12.
