WELLSVILLE, Ohio (WKBN) – The relative of a 4-year-old boy pictured in viral photos that show him in the backseat of a car with two unconscious adults says the images “haunt” her.

Kim Rawson, of Wellsville, is the grandmother of the boy’s stepsister. She says he often came to her farm to play.East Liverpool Police find a 4-year-old in a car with unconscious adults.

On Thursday, Rhonda Pasek, the woman pictured in the viral photos and a relative of the boy, was sentenced to 180 days in jail and a $280 fine. The man pictured, James Acord, was convicted on child endangering charges and driving while impaired, and was immediately sentenced to nearly one year in jail.

When asked why she attended Pasek’s sentencing, Rawson said, “I was kind of hoping I could see her in cuffs, maybe.”

After Pasek was sentenced to jail, Rawson said she broke down in tears.

“When you see this and then you see that poor little innocent baby’s face, it haunts me. It just literally haunts me now,” Rawson said.

Rawson ultimately wants the boy, who she describes as shy and timid, to have the best life he can.

“I just want him to be able to be okay, that’s all, because he deserves it.”

The 4-year-old is now in the custody of a great aunt and uncle in South Carolina. She hopes sending the little boy with them will help break the cycle of drug addiction that he’s already had to grow up with.
