Woman in viral E. Liverpool post sentenced to jail time

Pasek was sentenced to 180 days in jail and to pay a $280 fine

Rhonda Pasek, 50, appeared in East Liverpool Municipal Court on charges of child endangering, disorderly conduct and intoxication.

EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio (WKBN) – Dressed in a jailhouse jumpsuit and chains, the woman whose image was published in a viral post by East Liverpool police appeared in court Thursday.

Rhonda Pasek, 50, cursed under her breath when she came face-to-face with the local and national media that was waiting for her in East Liverpool Municipal Court. She was appearing for a preliminary hearing on charges of child endangering, disorderly conduct and intoxication — a week after East Liverpool Police say they revived her from an apparent overdose with Narcan while her 4-year-old relative was in the car.

Pasek pleaded no contest to child endangering, disorderly conduct — public intoxication and to a seat belt violation. She was sentenced to 180 days in jail and to pay a $280 fine, what Judge Melissa Byers-Emmerling said was the maximum penalty that she could receive under Ohio law.

Pasek and her boyfriend, James Acord, were arrested after a Sept. 7 traffic stop in which police said they spotted Acord driving erratically along St. Claire Avenue. When officers approached the SUV, Pasek was already unconscious in the passenger seat and Acord passed out a short time later.

East Liverpool Police Chief John Lane said the photos were posted on Facebook to raise awareness to the heroin epidemic in the region.

The child is currently in the custody of family in South Carolina.

Pasek was granted custody of her relative in July. The child was taken from his mother, Reva McCullough, 25, after Children Services determined she was unfit to care for the boy, according to court documents.

Acord was convicted on child endangering charges last week and was immediately sentenced to nearly one year in jail.

Prosecutors said evidence found in Acord’s SUV last week is still being analyzed and could result in further charges being filed against the couple.
