YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — The McDonald’s Sock Run took place in downtown Youngstown Sunday, as the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Mahoning Valley and Western Pennsylvania kicked off their 30th anniversary with the second annual race.

There was the 5K run and a kid’s fun run, both starting at Federal Plaza.

The goal was to raise money for the charity to give back to the community and get people out and moving.

“McDonald’s is more than hamburgers and fries,” McDonalds owner and operator Herb Washington said. “We are committed to the community. Our charity has given over $800,000 in the past 15 years to different charities here in the community. We’ve touched over 12,000 families and communities here in the Valley.”

The charity partnered up with Oh Wow! and provided activities at the Silly Science Day too.
