YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Wasko Funeral Home, with the Rev. Michael Swierz officiating, for Anthony T. “Tony” Manno, 78, who passed away Sunday morning, September 18, at the Hospice House, surrounded by his family.

Tony was born September 20, 1937, in Youngstown, the son of Samuel and Pauline Tonti Manno.

He was an East High School graduate and attended Youngstown State University.

Tony worked at Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company, retiring in the early 80s, then went on to work for Northside Medical Center.

He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

He was also a saxophone player who played with the “BelAirs.”

Throughout his life, Tony thoroughly enjoyed all sports. He most enjoyed coaching his daughters and grandchildren. He coached Campbell Little Red Devils and Struthers Little Wildcats football teams and the Mico Dairy little league baseball.

Tony’s family was his pride and joy. He always instilled in his children and grandchildren, “family first” and he lived by his words. Tony’s wife always described him as a kind and gentle soul, a man who never said an unkind word. No matter the distance between Tony and his family, he was always present in their lives and he will be sadly missed by so many.

Tony leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Lucille Riebe Manno, whom he married March 2, 1991; his daughters, Cindy (Tom) Jauch of Palm Harbor, Florida, Chrissy (Greg) VanSuch of Tampa, Florida, and Cheryl (Randy) Harned of Clearwater, Florida.; stepdaughters Christine Surma of Akron and Caryn (Lance) Senoyuit of Cleveland; a brother, Donald (Georgianna) D’Andrea of Hubbard; eight grandchildren, Simon (Natalie), Michael, Christie, Anthony, Isabelle, David, Dominic, and Ben; and a great-granddaughter, Sienna Capri.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The Manno family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
