WARREN, Ohio – Frank L. “General” Battee Jr., 64, of 2270 Brier Street, S.E., Warren, departed this life Sunday, September 18, 2016 at his residence, following a heart attack.
He was born May 25, 1952 in Yazoo City, Mississippi, the son of Frank L. and Barbara Harris Battee, Sr., residing in the area since 1957.
Mr. Battee was employed with Standard Slag for 17 years as a laborer and was a part-time truck driver for the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
He enjoyed photography, antique collecting, playing chess, riding bikes and loved being with his grandchildren and family.
He served honorably in the U.S. Army for four years, receiving several commendations.
Mr. Battee was a 1971 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and attended the Akron Trade School to become an Electrician.
He married Aris J. Rice Battee January 2, 2015.
Besides his wife of Warren, he leaves to mourn, four sons, Frank L. Battee III and Saad (Brandy) Battee both of Warren, Marcus Battee and Justin Battee both of Indianapolis, Indiana; three daughters, Ms. Najmah N.R. Battee, Mrs. Raan L. (Airiz) Coleman and Ms. Precious M. Battee all of Warren; one stepson, Derrick W.E. Luton of Warren; one stepdaughter, Ms. Melanise Kimble of Warren; eight sisters, Ms. Daisy “Bernadette” Peck, Ms. Carolyn Evans and Ms. Anita Battee all of Warren, Mrs. Gwendolyn (Horace) Sugick of Vallejo, California, Ms. Sheila Battee and Mrs. Denise (Fred) Smith both of Warren, Ms. Milreta (Derrick) Lewis of Indianapolis, Indiana and Ms. Renee (Edwin) Esparra of Elizabeth, New Jersey; 23 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, September 25, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. at the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Chapel.
Calling Hours will be held one hour prior to service (4:00-5:00 p.m.).
Family will receive friends at 2416 Burton Street, S.E., the home of his sister, Anita Battee.
Arrangements of comfort were handled by the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home.
