WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Police said a marijuana grow operation was discovered in a Warren home where police had been called for a report of a fight involving a gun.
Officers were sent to the 2000 block of Benton Street SE on Sunday night to break up the fight. When they arrived, a man screamed that a woman inside a house down the street had a gun.
Police questioned the woman, who they said began taking off her clothes, exposing herself, to show she didn’t have a weapon.
The woman, 30-year-old Jennah Cope, told police that she was down the street when people came outside, threatening her with bats. She told police she was confronting a child who had been picking on her kids.
An officer was then informed that a man inside Cope’s apartment had the gun. Cope invited officers inside, and her children told police the man was upstairs.
Police said during a search of the home for the man, a small marijuana grow operation was found inside a room upstairs. Upon its discovery, Cope began screaming to another woman in the home that she was going to jail and to get her kids out of the home, according a police report.
Cope also told police that marijuana will be legal soon, so she didn’t care that she was getting arrested.
She was taken to Trumbull County Jail on child endangering, cultivating illegal drug and menacing charges. She pleaded not guilty to the charges in court on Monday, and she is scheduled to appear in court again at 1:30 p.m. October 27.
