Motorcycle, FedEx crash backs up traffic in Girard

The accident happened on Route 422 around 5 p.m. Wednesday

A motorcycle and FedEx Ground van crashed on Route 422 in Girard.

GIRARD, Ohio (WKBN) – A crash involving a motorcycle and FedEx Ground van backed up traffic in Girard Wednesday.

The accident happened at the intersection of Route 422 and Smithsonian Street in front of Frankford Bicycle Shop around 5 p.m.

By 5:30, traffic started to back up in both directions, but had cleared by Wednesday evening.

Police said the van pulled out from a stopped position on Smithsonian, hitting the motorcycle that was traveling on 422.

Both the driver and passenger on the motorcycle were injured and taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital. The driver of the van was not injured.

Police are still investigating the crash and have not filed any charges.
