Child falls from high rise

WILLOUGHBY HILLS, Ohio (AP) – Police say a 2-year-old child has died after falling from a high-rise apartment building in northeast Ohio.

Willoughby Hills police say the child apparently fell early Wednesday from a window in an 11th story apartment at the Willoughby Hills Towers apartment complex in the city about 25 miles east of Cleveland.

Police and fire crews said they found the child unresponsive on the rear parking deck of the building when they arrived shortly after midnight. The child was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

A police statement says the child’s parents were home at the time of the fall. But police said they had no witnesses.

The child’s name wasn’t immediately released.

Police are continuing to investigate.
