PARMA, Ohio – Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 26 at Saint John’s Greek Orthodox Church for Catherine N. Bombolis, 86, who died Wednesday morning, September 21, at Seasons of Life Hospice in Parma, Ohio.

Catherine was born in Youngstown, on September 5, 1930, a daughter of James and Stella Kapezanos Nickas and had been a Youngstown area resident until moving to Parma in 1961.

She graduated from The Rayen School with the Class of 1949 and worked at Northside Hospital for nine years when she got married. She was a homemaker and worked as an assistant manager for the Ohio Department of Liquor Control for fifteen years retiring in 1992.

She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Greek Orthodox Church, their senior citizen group, Philoptochos Society, Pan-Arcadian and Daughters of Penelope Society.

Her husband of 41 years, George N. Bombolis, whom she married October 6, 1957, preceded her in death on February 19, 1999.

She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory, her son Nicholas G. Bombolis with whom she made her home in Parma; two sisters-in-law, Carmen Nickas of Daly City, Calfornia and Roberta Nickas of Huntsville, Alabama; three nieces Alexis (Joe) Shaughnessy of San Francisco, California, Joan (Ray) Demby of St. Petersburg, Florida, Deneen (Jeff) Kassouf of Westlake, Ohio; three nephews, James Nickas of Burlingame, California, Michael Nickas of Concord, California, Jeffrey Nickas of Huntsville, Alabama; and several great nieces and great nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Catherine was preceded in death by her two brothers, Nicholas and Peter Nickas; a brother-in-law John N. (Maria) Bombolis and a sister-in-law Sophia (Dean) Michals.

In lieu of flowers, material contributions may be made to St. John Greek Orthodox Church Restoration Fund, 4955 Glenwood Ave., Boardman, Ohio 44512.

Friends may call Sunday, September 25 from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Fox Funeral Home or from 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 26 at St. John’s Greek Orthodox Church.
