Lingar C. "Hump" Humphrey, Youngstown, Ohio - obit

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – A funeral service celebrating the life and legacy of Mr. Lingar C. Humphrey will be held at the Mathew W. Conley funeral home, Thursday, September 29, 2016 11:00 a.m.

Lingar was born October 6, 1934 in Youngstown, Ohio, and went home peacefully September 22, 2016.

He was the son of L.C. and Lovice Mitchell Humphrey.

He attended South High School graduating in 1952. Lingar was an outstanding athlete, football in particular, a varsity running back and full back. He was one of the leading rushers in the city being selected 1st Team All-City 1951 and 1952 receiving a full scholarship to The University of Iowa.

Mr. Humphrey was formerly employed with Kessler Products retiring in 1990.

Lingar had a phenomenal singing voice smooth as silk and was an excellent dancer.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving children Lynn (Joseph) Parker, Crystal (Jefferson) Thomas, Lacey Humphrey; his grandchildren Joseph Parker jr., Joselyn Parker, Brittany Thomas, Mark Thomas, Jonathan Thomas; his great-grand children Desiree Thomas, AyMarie Thomas and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Beatrice; his parents; his son, Keith Humphrey; his sisters, Lois A. Henderson and Betty A. Davidson; his grandson, Jefferson Thomas III.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Belmont Cemetery

A television tribute will air Monday, September 26 at the following approximate times:
6:41 a.m. WYTV and 8:41 a.m. MyYTV and 9:58 a.m. on FOX plus two additional spots throughout the day.
