MANTUA, Ohio (WKBN/WJW) – The winner of the Queen of Hearts drawing this weekend in Garrettsville wants to use the money to give back to her community.

Terri Vechery, 69, of Mantua, says she got a call Sunday night from a strange number trying to FaceTime her, but the call kept dropping.

Twenty-four hours later, she still can’t believe she won. It was the first time Vechery ever played the game, and she only bought one ticket.

Vechery has been working on restoring a former school building in Mantua. She will now use her winning to make it a community center for teens.

“I just want to invest in the future of my community for my children and grandchildren, and I think that is where the money should be spent,” she said.

Vechery gets 90 percent of the $3.4 million jackpot because she was not present at the time. That still comes to over $2 million after taxes.

The other ten percent rolls over to the next Queen of Hearts jackpot at SkyLane Bowling. The new game will start sometime in October.
