Power Siting Board approves plans to build Wellsville power plant

The Columbiana County plant is a $1.1 billion project

WELLSVILLE, Ohio (WKBN) – The State of Ohio Power Siting Board has approved the plans to build a natural gas fired plant In Wellsville.

The Columbiana County plant is a $1.1 billion project, expected to bring 30 permanent jobs to the area.

The approval Monday means there’s one less hurdle for the project to clear. The State Environmental Protection Agency is in favor of the project.

Work should start in 2017.
