Katherine Irene (Barnard) (Beeson) Roof, Salem, Ohio - obit

SALEM, Ohio – Katherine Irene (Barnard)(fna Beeson) Roof 94, of Salem, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2016 at 6:15 p.m. at Salem Regional Medical Center.

She was born on February 7, 1922 in Salem, the daughter of the late Elver Cleveland and Ella Jane (Bennett) Barnard.

Katherine was a loving daughter, wife and mother.

Katherine was a life-time resident of Salem, except for a period of a few years when she lived in Alliance. She worked in the machine shop of the Goodyear Aircraft Co, in Akron. She was a housekeeper in Salem Central Clinic Hospital. She was a resident of Salem Manor and enjoyed playing Bingo in the community room. She also enjoyed country music and wordfind.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on July 31, 1963 by her first husband, Franklyn Leroy Beeson, Sr., whom she married on April 8, 1939; on October 4, 1988 by her second husband Earl Roof whom she married on March 25, 1971; her siblings, Ella Jane, Mary, James, Cecil, Paul, Carl, Elver Barnard, and Blanche Fickes and her half-sister, Pearl Newell.

She is survived by her children, Franklyn Leroy (Nancy) Beeson Jr. of Prescott Arizona, Linda Kay (Paul) Arter of Lisbon, Ohio, and Darlene Mae (Stephen) Shutler of Millington, Tennessee; many grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be held on Saturday, October 1, 1:00 p.m. at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services with the Rev. Ryan Shoaff of Canton officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery in Salem.

A time of visitation will be held from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
