Youngstown Police: Man ran away after attempted robbery on Erie

A woman told police the robber ran off after she hit the panic alarm in her house

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Youngstown Police are looking for a man who ran away after a failed robbery attempt on Erie Street.

The alleged victim told police she was on the front porch of her home just before 10 p.m. Sunday when she was approached by a man who told her he had a gun. The man, who had his hands behind his back, demanded that she give him money, according to a police report.

The woman told police the man threatened her, but she was able to run inside her home and hit the panic alarm. The man ran away when the alarm went off.

Police looked for the robber but were unable to find him.

The woman said she had never seen the man before but described him as “dirty.” She said he was a light-skinned black man in his early 20s, approximately 5’5″ tall and 140 pounds. He was wearing blue jeans and a white t-shirt during the attempted robbery, according to the report.
