Car and semi trailer collide in Lawrence County

The trailer separated from the semi-truck and ended up on top of the vehicle

A car ran into the back of a tractor-trailer Tuesday in Smith Township, Pa.

SMITH TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WKBN) – At least one person was seriously injured in an accident in Lawrence County after a vehicle hit a trailer that had separated from a semi truck.

The accident happened about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday on State Route 19, near Route 956 in Smith Township.

The trailer ended up on top of the vehicle.

The driver of the car was taken from the scene by medical helicopter.

Police are not sure how the trailer became disconnected from the truck.

Accident investigators are reviewing the crash.

Pennsylvania State Police released no further details Tuesday afternoon.
